With a sad heart I want to announce the passing of NDC member and forum member MacArthur George. Mac was a big contributor to the message board over the years and a good friend to many in the Carolina Chapter. He will be missed greatly.
As a side note, his father owned the first and oldest DeSoto dealership in South Carolina. It opened in the mid to late 30s and he carried DeSoto right until its end. The family still owns the land and building and there is still a railroad spur that comes to the dealership to deliver cars, though no new DeSotos have been delivered in quite some time!
Rest in Peace Mac!

It's Delightful, It's DeLovely, It's DeSoto!
This is sad news. Mac always was quick to be helpful on any DeSoto related topic and shared his knowledge freely!
Condolences to his friends and family.

Really sad news. Mac had access to a wealth of information on Desoto's and often responded on here with accurate information. I only knew him from attending many conventions together but he always impressed me as a real gentleman and I looked forward to seeing him every year. He will be missed.
Dean,
Thanks for sharing the news about Mac. My comments echo what you and the others have already said...he was a fine gentleman. If you have details about his arrangements or a link to his obituary, please share. I'd like donate in his honor.
Mark
He will be greatly missed, I always enjoyed his posts as they were accurate and I always learned from what he shared.
My condolences to his family and friends
Chris
The National Desoto Club is made of many solid, knowledgeable and caring people who shared their love of Desoto with everyone. Mac was one of those people.
He was one of the people I went to when I wanted to confirm some trivial point for an article I was working on. He was one that I enjoyed listing to at the many conventions he attended.
We all appreciated his knowledge and postings here on the message board
Our thoughts go to Jeanette and his children at this time
The only information I have on his funeral is that it was today at a small church in his hometown of Laurens. There was to be a grave side service. Friends and family to attend. I haven't seen an obituary to repost. Mac lived about 150 miles from me so I wasn't able to go to his service. His address is listed in the roster, or it should be, but I can't find my Roster to post it.
I am sure he would appreciate all the kind comments. He will be greatly missed by the Carolina Chapter.
DeSotoly,
Dean

Mac was a great guy as is his wife Jeanette. I always looked forward to seeing them at conventions and missed them these past few years. This is truly sad news. Fair winds and following seas Mac.

Mark, Thanks for posting this! I'm not good at finding things like this on line. Did you simply google it or do a more specific search?
Anyway, I am glad you found it.

Rest in peace Mac. While we never met outside of the forum, he was a great source of knowledge with an answer for any question I had.
