One step you can take to try on your own to alleviate any message board related problems is to clear the cookies on your computer.

I cannot get pictures related to any of the postings but I can read the posts in their entirety.

Am I missing something or is there no activity on this website lately?  The last post is over 4 weeks ago.

Good to hear from you Fred. It seems that there has been a lack of activity lately - perhaps most people have little to post during the winter? I poked around a bit and I see what you mean about some of the photos being missing. I'll look into that and see if I can correct it. Just as a test, I'll try posting a photo of my car here to see if it applies to new posts as well.

Was able to pull up the pic by clicking on the attachment.

Thanks David

Got the latest DeSoto Adventures today and it is great as usual.  Your suggestion as to not criticize negatively on display cars is spot on.

@fredroman I believe the photo issue is all fixed now. There was an issue with some of the plug-ins for the website that were outdated.

"Message Board issues"

15 Oct 2023

To all:

If PROBLEM is meant here, PROBLEM is the word that should be used. ISSUE is not a replacement for PROBLEM or MATTER. Let's all get off of the issue bandwagon and stop corrupting and confusing the language.

Here is but one example of the reason for correct word usage: (From the USPS): "Domestic Mail Manual Issue 57..." Here, the real meaning of ISSUE is meant but with recent misuse of ISSUE, the reader might think PROBLEM is meant. If you mean PROBLEM, use PROBLEM; if you mean MATTER, use MATTER.

IMPACT is often another corruption. If you mean AFFECT or EFFECT, use it. IMPACT has to do with collision.

Who cares?  The last I knew we weren't in any kind of an English class.

I received the latest edition of the DeSoto Adventurers issue and what a great read.  David, you are a master at including interesting articles as well as keeping us updated with personnel responsibilities.  The DeSoto Airflow history and restoration was especially interesting  to me.  Keep up the great work.

Thank you!

Yes, I am a proud owner of a 1941 Desoto Club Coupe! I am looking for some guidance to repair my 1950 ShoeBox Ford! Any comments and feed back

would be much appreciated.

I am looking for a mechanic who can work on my 1950 Ford Shoebox. The car has been restored but is experiencing issues with the manual 3-speed transmission sticking in gear and making noise while in neutral. Recently, some gears in the transmission were repaired, but the clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, and ring gear were not addressed. It could potentially be the transmission shaft bearing or input/output bearings. Either way, the transmission will need to be taken apart to diagnose the issue.
I have ordered a new clutch kit assembly for a 1949-1951 Ford and a transmission shaft bearing, which are currently en route. I need to contact a local mechanic, as I am new to the area. Your comments and feedback are much appreciated.

@dylangoddard thanks for refreshing my memory! I sent you a message with contact information for a semi-local NDC member. Perhaps he can recommend someone to you in your area.

Hello Dylan....are you a member of any local car clubs in BC?  I'm a member of an active AACA Region where I live and have found several good local repair recommendations from my fellow members.  If you do not belong to a local club, I'd recommend seeking one out.  Lots of old car activity in your area as well as in the US Pacific Northwest.  Good luck!
