I'm trying to replace the front and rear motor mounts on my 1950 DeSoto. On the rear I removed the bolts and the lower rubber, but I cannot jack the engine high enough to remove the metal plate and shaft that holds the upper rubber. What am I doing wrong?
Hi Charles,
If you study the rear engine mount cross member on that car, I believe you will find that the center section where the mounts attach is removable. The preferred method to service those mounts (and the remove the engine), is to jack the rear portion of the engine and drop that center cross member section.
