Does anyone have any experience adjusting the pushbuttons on a 56 Fireflite? Mine seem to have a mind of their own. Sometimes they work just fine, sometimes they do not want to shift gears and sometimes they will shift out of neutral on their own. I can eventually get them to cooperate, but sometimes I need to play with them. I have the service manual, but I'm having a hard time understanding it. I just bought the car and the previous owner said he had it into a transmission shop, but they couldn't get it right. Does anyone have any pointers? Thanks

To follow up on my post. Brought it to a transmission shop who did a consult with an old retired Chrysler guy. Turns out the cable from the pushbuttons to the tranny was not fastened tightly at the transmission end. They tightened it up and it has worked fine for a year now.

Bob,

Thanks for the feedback and solution. I don't yet have a pushbutton car but hope to some day and this will come in handy.

Mark
