who's going to the national meet ?
I'm coming with an empty trailer to pick up your '29, right?
It's supposed to be fun!
1949 De Soto Custom Convertible (project)
correct I won't charge you much to work on it
We got the hotel reservation made and the convention registration form sent in. See you there.
Pat and I plan to drive the back roads in our '55 from Louisville to Chattanooga. Hopefully the Stolowich's in their '57 Firesweep will join us for the trip.
Mark
Mark, we are also doing the back roads from Mich.. Tyler's plan on traveling with us in their 32. Their 32 does not like the Interstates. We are planning on Route 55 through Kentucky. We are leaving Tues. morning and plan on driving to around Campbellsville, KY for the night.
Les,
I know Mapquest and others like to route you on KY 55 through KY on your way to TN. However, having traveled quite a bit for both business and pleasure in KY, I would suggest US 127 south to TN. State roads in KY are a crap shoot; some can be very narrow and windy. US 127 is a very good road, four lanes in many areas. Danville, KY, would be a very nice overnight stop.
Mark
Mark, thanks for the suggestion and after taking a closer look I agree Rte.127 is the better way to go. On the Atlas I was using, the page was split between Rte's 55 and 127. That made it look like Rte. 127 went too far East. But, when I checked the milage both ways it is within a few miles. The plan now is to cross the river at Madison, IN and take Rte. 421 down to Frankfort where we pick up Rte. 127. Thanks again, Les

We'll be part of the Polish Convoy for sure, Mark!
It should be a fun time!
I will at least come down for a day. Sadly I won't be bringing a DeSoto but I'm sure I will get plenty of inspiration!
Tim, will this be your first NDC convention? I am sure you will enjoy it with or without a DeSoto. It is always a good time with some friendly people that enjoy talking about their DeSoto's. Hopefully, you can make it for more than one day. You will get some inspiration.
Debbie and I plan on being there. Debbie's putting together a list of things to see on the way there, so I'm not sure yet what route we'll be taking, nor how many days ahead of the convention we'll be leaving. But on Sunday, we have to get home in one day since we both have to be at work bright and early the next day. Unfortunately (as usual), I won't be bringing either of the De Sotos.
Les - how are you getting to Madison, IN? Just wondering if you'll be going through my hometown of New Castle, IN. If so, send be a private e-mail or give me a call and we can discuss things on the way you may want to see. While in Madison, if you like old houses, then the Lanier mansion is a must-see. And if you like waterfalls, Clifty Falls State Park is just west of Madison and could be a good place to take a rest. Unfortunately, that time of the year, the falls are usually not falling much due to the lack of rain water. But if they have had a good rain the day before, the falls are nice to visit. Regardless, hope you have a good trip and will see you at the convention.

Bill,we aren't going quite that far East. Taking US 31 down to just North of Indy. Then 38 East to 9 down to 7 to Madison.
We done a two day get-a-way to Madison last year because we had heard so much about it. Didn't tour the Lanier Mansion but walked through the gardens. For some reason we didn't do the State Park either. A great little town that Charles Kuralt said was his favorite river town. Well worth a stop for anyone going near there. Les
Les,
You still have a chance to see a nice waterfall, if you're interested. It's in Pendleton, IN, just north of downtown off of St. Rt 38. There use to be a sign pointing towards the falls at the intersection, but I haven't been there in a while so I don't know if the sign is still up or not. Regardless, it's about a block north and is in a nice city park. Perhaps a good place to take a break and stretch your legs.
Bill
Thanks Bill, I am making a note on our map and will check out the waterfall. We are always open to suggestions from the "locals" on interesting things to see or a better route. Les
