How did things go at the club booth at Hershey?
It's supposed to be fun!
1949 De Soto Custom Convertible (project)
Rich,
Sorry we didn't get to connect in Hershey. I stopped by around 9 am and couldn't find anyone or anything to help me connect with you. I didn't know about the meeting at 3 pm. Being a rookie is a challenge!
I did see a couple of nice Desoto's in the corral. A great 42 w/hideaway lights, and a 48 "suburban." The 48 had the fold down three row seating configuration. You probably saw that one too. That's one long vehicle!
Parts for Desoto's were scarce. I was looking for interior door handles with the plastic inserts. The chrome on mine is great however I'm missing the door handle inserts on both sides. I met a door handle vendor that's going to look for me. If anyone can stumble across them, it's likely this guy. I found some OEM key blanks, but no other good stuff for the Custom. I couldn't even find cloth covered wire for sale.
I was also searching for a jack/stand/&handle. No luck there however there was a vendor that specialized in jacks. I can't believe he didn't have mine.
It's a great show but it is clearly a multi-day event. I'll try again next year.
Duane
