Living in England, I have just bought a 1929 DeSoto K series Roadster made in right hand drive originally for export to NZ. Daphne looks great but will no doubt will need a little re commissioning in respect of engine and brakes.
Is there anyone who owns one in the UK, Ireland or Europe? Alternatively, does anyone know where I can get hold of a workshop manual or info on the 55 HP flathead engine, which I believe to be the original?
Thanks and enjoy your machines. all the best, Peter
Peter,
First of all, welcome to the world of DeSoto owners. The Club's current roster shows several members in the UK but none with a '29. There is, however, a member in Dublin showing owning a '29.
Suggest you follow the links to the left of this website and:
1) Join the National DeSoto Club so you gain contact to the roster to reach out to your fellow member in your part of the world
2) Follow the "Resources" link for contact information for the Club's 1929 model year coordinator. Here is his information:
1929- Les Pesavento 4865 Tari Dr. Lewiston MI 49756

Good luck!
Mark
Hi Mark,
Really good of you to take the time to respond...and a very helpful response it was. I will now join as a fully paid up member and look thru the roster. I will also e-mail Les. Thank you so very much for setting me on the road to DeSoto motoring.
Regards, Peter
Hi All,
I am trying to get hold of a worldwide list (roster) of DeSoto owners and in particular those with a flathead engine like that in my newly acquired 1929 Roadster. I have recently joined the club as a paid up member but still can not see a way to gain access to the roster. I would appreciate any assistance....thanks and regards to all.

Hi Peter
My name is Wally, I have two 29's model K sedans. What part of the UK are you from? My wife is from London area. Will be glad to help you in any way I can. My email is wallyvon@aol.com.
Have a Great day
Wally
Wally...thanks for offering your assistance.
Peter...Roger Reddish is a regular visitor to this Board. Roger manages the NDC Club Store and I believe he may have back issues of the Club magazine for sale, including the 2014 roster issue. Hopefully Roger will read this and respond and advise how to get a roster issue.
Mark
Peter,
Welcome to the NDC. Since you've joined, you should be receiving a copy of the 2014 roster issue - it may take a while to get to you since you're over in England. If you don't receive your copy in the near future, you should send a private e-mail to the Membership Secretary asking him where it's at.
Bill
Could Mark or Les please send to me a copy of the latest club Roster now that I am a fully paid up member? I am still keen to get a list of UK or European ow benders of early cars. Many thanks and regards,
Peter Jeffery
Peter,
You can find my e-mail address to the left under Resources. I'm the '55 model year coordinator. Send me your e-mail address and I will scan the appropriate pages from the 2014 roster and e-mail them to you.
Mark
Hi Mark and Bill,
Many thanks for getting me a step closer to finding DeSoto owners closer to my UK home...nearly there! I understand the full roster may be coming my way eventually.
Mark. i have looked through 'resources' as you suggest but under '55 I see your name and telephone but there is no email address. Mine is PeterJeffery2002@aol.com
It would be helpful if you could scan pages relating to UK, Ireland and Europe.
Thanks and regards, Peter
Thank you one and all for helping with this. I have just received the DeSoto Adventures 2014 Roster Issue, which has all I need within. There are 5 DeSoto owners in the Uk none with a 1929. However, I see one with my year in Dublin and another in Italy and have already contacted them. Thanks for being a brilliant Club and especially to Barrett Taft for sending the roster to me. Happy motoring.
Peter
