Once again, I tried to post a ebay file here and was unable to do it..it just kept saying file uploading. it is a great looking 47? coupe for $5500 in Illinois. This site is littered with complaints and it has been mentioned on the 55/56 facebook page about the clumsiness of uploading here. Please simplify it for us. I know the moderator and some experts think the rest of us are whiners but why reserve this site for the computer experts?

I didn't make the Soft Ware I just run it!
Under post a reply,Submit your question or reply,Go down to where it says upload attachment click on browse find your attachment you want to up load in your computer click on it and open it.Up above you will see submit (not the one by attachment)click on that and it should go.
If it doesn't go your pic is to large.640x 425 is good 320x 212 is better
Dave and others,
Here is what I have found to work: Prepare your message or reply then scroll down to the "Upload Attachment" block. Browse and find your attachment. For this example - if everything works as written here - you should see a photo of my '55 Firedome. As Rick states, this large photo file has been edited to reduce its size for posting on documents.
When you have found your attachment, then select "Preview". Assuming your photo meets the size and type requirements of the software, you should see a preview of your message and photo. Then hit "Submit". DO NOT select "Add the File"; for whatever reason that does not seem to work.
Hope this works and helps!

nope, didn't work. message says the file was rejected because it may be and attack..huh? I give up. someone else may want to post this ebay ad for a 47 Desoto coupe in Illinois.. Maybe this site should be redesigned. Maybe it will not accept ebay files or maybe this ebay file has too many photos or maybe it's because I'm 76 and just too much of a pain in the ass.
Dave,
I know your frustration in the difficulty of trying to navigate this site. I get frustrated every time I try to log in, and for the most part can't get in.
I want to put up my 55 wagon for sale and want to post some pictures, but haven't the slightest idea how to do so. You and I are the same vintage. I am not computer literate, and in fact hold the Guinness book of world records for being the most illiterate person west of the Mississippi.Even finding my pictures on my computer isn't easy. I suppose if I were to get on this site more than a couple of times a year might help.
Anyway, I don't believe it will change.

I also had trouble posting photos..................until Rick suggested that I downsize the photo.
Since that time, I have had no issues...................However, like all things computer related, the more often you do it, the easier it is.

well, I appreciate all the well meaning hints re. pic. posting but I think the problem is I have no idea how to manipulate a photo from an ebay or
CL posting. I still think the process here is arcane and not worth fooling with so I won't. Is sthere not enough money in the coffers to redesign this process?

Based on a little experiment (sorry for cluttering up the message board with this), the problem might be that eBay ads are not simple files. They are actually scripts of files and links, and the links may not work if your browser is not on the original web site. There are a couple of workarounds, neither perfect:
1) You can copy the URL (the page address) from your browser while viewing the page, and then paste that address into your message. Readers clicking the link are directed to the web page it addresses.
2) You can convert the page to a simple file. On a Mac, you select File:Print, and in the print dialog, lower left corner of most versions of Mac OS, you can choose an option to save the print file as a pdf. This writes a "portable document format" picture of the page on your local disk. The pdf can be uploaded to the message board as has been described. (While composing a message post, in the <Upload attachment> section, click <Choose File> and navigate to the .pdf file you just created. Don't click <Add the file>, just <Preview> if you like and then <Submit>. The result isn't totally satisfying -- a link to the file appears in your posted message, and when the reader clicks the link, the pdf file gets downloaded and (on my machine at least) automatically opens. It is just a picture of the page though -- internal links (like alternate photos) do not work.
I think the first method is better. Interested readers can view the page as long as eBay keeps it archived just by clicking the link in your message.
The software the NDC is using seems to know how to display most image files in line with the message, but it can't manage web site source like html or even pdfs.
