Note this one has the rare Coronado green engine!
I wonder what the replacement master cylinder and booster are from?
The above posts contain a wealth of information related to the 1955 Desoto Coronado which may answer some of new owner, Michael Kimball's questions.

Thanks Mac, for the heads up. I hadn't seen this thread. I'm working my way through it and already have some idea of my data plate codes (and a cool idea to take a picture of the backside of the data plate!) My paint code is 431 also.
Jessica,
I am not aware of anyone keeping a data base on 1955 Coronados. No one knows for sure how many were produced since the production of these were combined with all the Fireflites produced. The 500 number is commonly thought to be a ball park guess. There are eight Coronados listed in the last two roster issues of the Adventures magazine. There were two Coronados at the 2009 NDC convention, both having the Coronado Green body, Surf White sweep and black top. This color combination appears to be the most prevalent of the Coronados still around. I did not take mine to the convention. Your color combination is somewhat rare. I will post some picture of mine later.

Would those (approximately) 500 Coronados have been produced in one block in the Fireflite line, or scattered through out it? Do the various ones identified so far have serial numbers within 500 of each other? Mine is 50351702.
If we already have any Coronados with serial numbers greater than 50352202 or less than 50351202 then we know they weren't produced in one block.
... snip ... I started this database last year with only 6 cars, and now we are well over 20!

Only 480 to go
Michael,
I doubt they were produced in a "block". They were supposed to be customer special order vehicles and only produced as dealers sent in the orders. I am sure quite a few dealers ordered under fictitious names just to be able to get one for the lot. Either way, rare is rare and your car deserves a proper re-upbringing! LOL
Good luck!

Here's another '55 Coronado found on Craigslist:
I saved a DeSOTO Fireflite from the CRUSHER! It's ALL ORIGINAL, Paint, everything... its Worn Out but All there, GOOD Headliner, Trim, Glass, HEMI Engine, etc...some rust, but only bad on the bottom of one rear fender, no Title and needs Total Restoration. but Runs.
Its a CORONADO, so TRIPLE TONE! BLACK/WHITE/TURQUOISE ROOF..Looking for an Appreciative Owner... $3000 or Best Offer i suppose... That Grille alone is worth over $1000 yes? better 'BRING a TRAILER'...Its in NEW MEXICO USA

Wow, how did this one end up a the crusher? Yes, it needs everything and has some rear quarter damage, but it is complete and has a tone of good parts on it. Not sure it's worth 3K, at least in my book, but he did say he would consider offers. Rare placement of the tri-tone colors too!
Hope someone snaps it up.
