Hi all,
Just purchased The 59 DeSoto Firesweep, need to get information and proof that the Vehcle was Delivered into Australia as a knockdown RHD car.. Other than ( have sent an email to Chrysler. ) contact Chrysler Australia trying to obtain Information relevant to the car, the has no Vin, just a Chassis number, engine is V8 361 cu in. Can anyone help and advise thanks. If I can’t prove car was an Original Car RHD build for Australian Sale from Chrysler Aust.. then no Rego.
Regards, Jim Stevens
Is it labeled Firesweep or Fireflite? According to the information on 60 DeSotos on this website, there was only a Fireflite and Adventurer produced for 1960. Of course, maybe export models were labeled Firesweep. Please update us on this. Thanks.
Jim,
In 1959, the VIN was also listed on the data plate, which for a Firesweep should be on the top of the passenger cowl under the hood. Do you have that tag? It seems that might be the easiest solution to your problem if you do. Also, 1959 DeSotos had a sticker on the underside of the glovebox liner that had the VIN contained on it as well. This is easily visible if you stick your head under the dash and look up.
