Hi.

I’m looking for right color mix for my ’59 Firesweep Explorer. Code is XWX.
i figured it is Tropical Tan Poly. Roof and sweep color  is pearl white.
How I can find right color mix info?
Does PPG still have these old color mixing info?

If you have (or purchase) a paint chip chart, you might find somewhere locally that can scan it and mix it up to match. I don't think there is a way to just order paint based on the codes for these older cars. Just be aware that age and discoloration on these charts may impact the color of the samples. I knew a guy who purchased three paint chip charts for his 300C and "averaged" the three together to come up with the final shade.

I also was forwarded a request this week from fellow NDC member Carl Boyko who is also looking for '59 Pearl White paint information. You might consider emailing him and I'll recommend he emails you to discuss. You may end up helping each other out. His email should be in the last roster (January-February 2024).

Hey, Mika-

My 1959 parts book shows this:

X is Pearl White,  DUCO no. 2539, DULUX no. 93-91016

W is Tropical Tan Metallic,  no match in DUCO, DULUX no. 181-17011

I hope this helps you.

Glenn Colburn, 1959 Firesweep

@glenncolburn Thank you. I found these DULUX numbers too. https://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?make=DeSoto&con=k&year=1959&rows=50.

This page has many codes too.
