New member Francis Warwick, foolishly hoping to replace a piece of my youth. Had a 52 Sportsman S15 coupe in the 1970's, stolen in 1976, seeking 52 Sportsman coupe, 6 or 8 cylinder, running, driving, usable. Serious, sincere, obviously slightly demented, thank you... Francis
Do you by chance have the serial number from your original car? If so, you could Google search that number to see if by chance it pops up (though I'd feel sorry for whoever has it now if they legitimately bought it from someone and the thief is too far back to be traced down for compensation).
If you join the club as a dues-paying member, you also get access to the following resources to help:
- Free advertising (a "Cars Wanted" ad for example) in the club's award-winning magazine
- Access to the car/membership roster where you might locate existing examples and inquire as to whether the owners would consider selling, even if they are not currently listed for sale
- The ability to submit the serial number inquiry previously mentioned to the club's Membership Secretary to see if the master list (reflecting 39 years worth of member information) shows your original car as having ever surfaced
If you'd like to join the club, you can easily do so at desoto.org/membership
Best of luck in your search!
I'll keep my eyes open for a nice '52 when I cruise for cars for sale ads on Craigslist, eBay, and Marketplace. Should be one out there!
@davidfrank Still have the keys and the 1976 Ohio title !! model S15 VIN 50242470 thanx. Francis
@franciswarwick I see from the new member list that you recently joined - welcome! I submitted an email the club's Membership Secretary, Christina Park, to inquire as to whether that specific serial number has ever been recorded in the club. Hopefully you can take advantage of the roster and advertising resources to help in your search.
@franciswarwick I checked and the club does not have any records of that specific serial number, nor does a Google search come up with anything. It was kind of a long shot, but figured it was worth checking.
