I’m in the hunt for a trunk latch (that attached to the inside of the tail panel) as well as an actual trunk lock for my 1960 DeSoto.
Someone has obviously drilled and removed the lock years ago, and unfortunately in the process they drilled out the latch as well where the slot would be that you could open the trunk up with a screwdriver.
I took the box with the air cleaner and radio to the post office to get the cost to ship. The cost is $94.30 US.
I went to Fastenal and they told me they cannot ship items from the UC to Canada, so that leaves that option out.
I included 3 radio tubes in the box with the radio. They came with the car when I bought it; I guess the radio in 1960 had tubes in it instead of transistors.
For the trunk lock and latch, I would try Murray Park at www.cbodies.com. Emailing might be best. If he can't help you, John Fowlie at Big M Automotive in California might be able to.
I’ve had no response from Murray and I’m still on the hunt for a trunk latch.
@toddpuzey he's a busy guy (one man operation), so you might have to follow up with him. Otherwise, I'm not sure if you have joined the club or not, but you could always use the club roster to find members with parts cars and/or submit a "Parts Waned" ad for the magazine.
