I'm flying from San Diego to the convention in Branson. To save money, what city would you suggest I fly to? I did some checking and the cheapest city that I found to fly to was Kansas City, but it left a 3 1/2 hour drive to Branson. Is there a better city to fly to without having to pay too much for the round trip? Thanks, Marc.
Hello Marc,
Branson has its own airport and according to the web it is served by flights on American Airlines, Delta, United, U.S. Airways and Allegiant Air. It's likely to be expensive as you have found most other larger airports are ~3 hour drive away. Southwest once served Branson but they stopped service not too long after beginning. They found that most visitors to Branson drive there.
Whatever you choose, I look forward to seeing you again. It's been many, many years.
Mark
Hi Mark, I think we shared a room at the DeSoto convention in 1987! That's when we were both pretty young. I think I'll just fly to Kansas City, rent a car and see 3 1/2 hours of America. We're talking a $200 round trip flight to KC vs. an $850 dollar flight to Branson. If you went to the San Diego convention last year, we may have seen each other there. And you may remember that I hosted the 1988 convention in Carlsbad, CA.
Marc.
Flying into and out of KC is much less expensive than either Springfield or Branson. You might check flights to St. Louis too. StL is about the same distance from Branson as KC is.
Good luck and I look forward to meeting you here in Branson. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me.

Well, I've got my reservations set. I'm into KC on Tuesday night at 11 pm. Then, I'm renting a car and driving one hour south to Harrisonville to spend the night. On Wednesday, I'll continue driving south to Springfield and then to Branson, so I should arrive sometime Wednesday afternoon. See you there and hope we all have some fun! Marc Capralis
