If anyone does find a 1940 De Soto station wagon, I'd sure like to see it. According to Butler's book, De Soto didn't build any station wagons that year. Most of the cars (over 54,000) were either 2-door or 4-door sedans. For 1940, there were only 2,098 DeLuxe coupes; only 1,898 Custom coupes; and only 1,085 Custom convertibles. That adds up to 5,081; which is less than 10% of the sedans produced. I'm not saying that there aren't any out there, but they will be rare and hard to find. Good luck.
