Tim Bowers suffered a heart attack and is in a Wichita, KS hospital. He’s progressing but will be unable to take care of the club’s website for an extended period. You may follow his progress at this website: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/timdbowers

Thank you for keeping Tim and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Definitely keeping Tim and his family in our prayers.

Most folks know this but for those that do not, Tim is the web master/administrator for this site and the National DeSoto Club site on Facebook. New members will have to wait until Tim gets back on his feet to get access to these two sites approved.

I'm thinking more prayers will speed up his recovery time....

It's past time I chime in and let everybody know what's going on with me. Thank you for all the thoughts, prayers, cards, and well wishes from everybody. They all definitely perked me up and lifted my spirits.

So I went to my recently acquired part time 2nd shift weekend job on Friday, May 18, and woke up in a Wichita hospital on May 24th to discover I was missing about 5 days, and was told I had a heart attack. I'd say it was a "shock to my system" but maybe it's a little soon for that. I have no recollection of anything between those dates.

I've been home for almost 2 weeks now, and I'm doing very well. I tire easily, which I'm sure isn't any different for anybody that's gone through such a thing. But that's getting better every day. I lost about 20 lbs just laying in the hospital bed. They get all the extra fluids out of your body because they make your heart work harder, so I expect I'll easily get that back now that my appetite is back.

I expect a full recovery. Other than tiring easily, I feel quite normal. My occupational and physical therapy is primarily geared towards strength and flexibility exercises. I wasn't flexible before the attack, so I don't think I can blame my inability to touch my toes on that.

The only thing that has me a little concerned is the return of my voice. As you might expect, an EMT crew is working in an emergency situation, and things get done quickly. It's been almost a month and I basically have a raspy whisper, so I hope that the intubation tube didn't do any permanent damage to my vocal chords. My kids said I sound like Clint Eastwood, so I've tried to end my sentences with "punk".

I have an appointment with the cardiologist tomorrow, and am working to get in to see an ear/nose/throat guy asap. I'll know a little more about my outlook tomorrow afternoon.

It's supposed to be fun!

Tim,
Great to hear you're on the mend! You had us all really concerned.
I told son John what had happened and he said he will be able to help with anything that comes up re: the website. I just wish that we were closer so I could help out with the shop.
If there's anything we can do to help out, just let us know.
Go ahead-"Make My Day!"
In our thoughts and prayers,
Geoff

Tim,

I think the whole club is happy to hear you are on the mend. I'm sure you'll fix that pesky misfire, and be back running on all cylinders again soon!

Thanks, guys!

Brent, where do you think I should check first? Points? Condenser?

It's supposed to be fun!
