Top Ten Most Expensive Cars Sold at Barrett-Jackson’s 2018 Palm Beach Sale
1959 DeSoto Adventurer Convertible – $330,000
Talk about a change of pace. This gilded DeSoto was one of many Detroit drop-tops from the Staluppi collection, likely serving as one of the cleanest Adventurers in existence. Chalk this heavy sale to a blend of condition, rarity, colorway, and provenance.
This is great - but there is more...........a 1957 DeSoto Adventurer and a 1956 DeSoto Fireflite were also in the top 10. And there were a couple of Dodges that scored in the top 10 as well - according to my calculations, half of the top ten are MoPars!

It should be noted that the car sold for 300K. The extra 30K was buyer's premium, which B-J tacks on at the end.
This is the story of two guys with deep pockets getting into a bidding war. The eventual winner was someone that already had 57 and 58 Adventurer convertibles and wanted to complete the set.

Just as the saying goes: "Money talks and BS walks" but in this case it bought a DeSoto and now the new owner can do all the talking he wants plus has the DeSotos to show for it too. Probably more as in investment than anything else to enjoy in his own way.
