I have a 1950 Deluxe Club Coupe with a sick six and slush drive. I have a line on a 49 Plymouth 218 with a 3speed behind it. What am I going to run into when I put the Plymmie motor into my DeSoto?? I've read on here that the motor should fit into the mounts without a problem as long as I customize the drive shaft. What else?
Thanks for any and all help,
GoGoHernando,
Pat
I believe the Plymouth and Dodge 6's were shorter than the DeSoto and Chrysler 6's. A tape measure will confirm this. The critical dimension is the distance from the front mount to the rear mounts. If shorter the rear crossmember rivets can be cut out and the crossmember moved forward. Other modifications for throttle, driveshaft, etc. should be fairly easy, much easier than going the V8 route. You may want to post on the P15D24 site since they seem to do a lot of stuff like this.
