In the current Nove-Dec 2016 issue of the Desoto Adventurer Geoff Overlay has proposed that we have a club registry for all of the Desoto cars that are members of the NDC.
He was stating that we include the serial numbers and the condition of each Desoto along with condition of the car.
Currently we capture this information all but the serial number for each car and this is listed in out national roster issue. So since we have this information then the only other thing that would be needed would be to have a column in the membership listing to capture the Serial number.
The question on that part is what is th eoffical serial number to be used?
Would the number be the engine number that was used in the prewar cars or the vin tag that was posted on the various A piller locations or possibly the Fedco number that was used ont eh 1929 Desoto that was documented in the Dec issue.
The other question is if we have this info would it be setup so that any non NDC member could get access to this information? I know someone will say that if they were handed a copy of the roster then they would have it. I woud think that most owners would like to keep this information as a private list.
Would other Desoto owners that are not members of the NDC be able to put their cars on this list and then do we sell the list to non members.
What are the members thought on this topic? Please provide input if any.
