Many years ago, the ball & trunnion u-joints on my '55 Firedome were serviced by the late Ollie Ehresman when we lived in North Carolina. Now, many years and miles later I'm thinking I should pay some attention to them before driving to the Convention. There is no evidence of any u-joint problem, but I know they should be serviced at least occasionally.

Those of you with technical skill, please explain the proper servicing method and type of grease that should be used. Can the joints be serviced with the drive shaft on the car?

Thanks for your feedback and input.

Mark

If they aren't leaking don't worry about them

Rick,

My lazy side certainly likes the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach. Why would they start leaking? If the rubber boot tears, etc.??

Any other schools of thought??

Mark

If the boot tore or had a hole in it then I would worry.
My 1961 Chrysler I've owned for 42 years i have never serviced
the u joints,I pulled the inside metal cover to see what the grease looked
like a few years ago,and it looked like it was just changed
