I've been moving forward everyday with my carryall project. I removed the water pump to check it out and noticed that although it moves, it doesn't move as freely as I think it should. I was wondering if these can be rebuilt?
Can the seal and bearing be replaced?
What kind of grease do you pump into the grease zert? How much grease to you pump in?
Thanks
I have used Automotive Friction in Oregon with great satisfaction on my waterpump rebuilds. I'd visit with the rebuilder you choose regarding their preferences on maintaining their rebuild with appropriate grease, etc.
It's supposed to be fun!

You can probably get a spanky new water pump at your local parts store.
You can buy a new one on-line:

Water pump grease? Wow, there's something you can't get anymore.
Good Luck
Steve
Thanks for the info. You guys are great. That's a good price for that water pump on the site.
I've never seen a water pump with a grease zert, but mine has one. I found this grease online.

I really love working on this flathead 6. It's very simple and easy to work on. Ihad a little problem with the bolts breaking off in the thermostat housing, but other than that it's going pretty well.
Jason,
Here is one on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Water-Pump- ... a1&vxp=mtr
If this is the correct pump, you can probably take that Gates part number from the listing to your FLAP (Friendly Local Auto Parts) store and have them check if it is a current number and if it crosses to a pump they sell. Chances are they can find one.
