Ok so just starting of on the Desoto with an oilchange and already hit a road block. I have never changed oil in a vintage vehicle or any vehicle with this type of cartidge. I loosened the bolt on the bottom of the canister and the bolt won't come out and seems to be spring loaded. The bolts head is sticking out about 1/2 inch from the canister and the canister wont budge. What am I doing wrong?

or maybe I being a little to delicate with it. Is it a possibillity that it is the canister is just stuck to the block and needs a little rubber mallet love?

Ryan...since you are not keeping your '55 totally original, you might want to consider a spin-on filter adapter. Search the list of "Vendors" to the left for "Hot Heads". They sell a spin-on filter adapter plate for the old Hemi. With it you will no longer need to mess with the canister.

Mark
