Hi All
Just a quick intro.
I have purchased a 1947 Chrysler desoto 3 window coupe for restoration.
I will be collecting in a couple of weeks and put so pictures up.
Thanks
Dave (Great Britain)
Hi Dave, welcome to this forum and the wonderful world of De Soto. We are looking forward to seeing some pictures of your coupe. There are a lot of knowledgeable folks in here that can probably answer any questions you might have about your De Soto. If you haven't done it yet I would urge you to join the National De Soto Club. We have a great magazine that comes out every other month that you will enjoy.
Dave,
I also welcome you to the wonderful world of De Sotos.
The 1946 to early 1949 De Sotos are all referred to as S-11 models. There were two versions of De Sotos those years with several body types - the lower class DeLuxe and the upper-class Custom. There really is very little difference between these two versions, and unfortunately I've never seen a complete list of the differences. It sounds like you have a De Soto DeLuxe 3-passenger coupe, often referred to as a business coupe or business-man coupe. You should have a very large trunk (I think you call it a boot) and no back seat. This business coupe wasn't offered in the Custom line.
The production numbers are all lumped together for the 38 months of S-11 production. For Example, according to Don Butler's "The Plymouth and De Soto Story", the most popular S-11 model was the Custom 4-dr sedan with 126,226 built during that timeframe. My '48 happens to be one of these. Your DeLuxe business coupe, again according to Butler's book, had a production run of only 1,950! This makes your car very rare, even among De Sotos. So I'm looking forward to seeing some photos of your De Soto, and hope you enjoy your new car.

Hi, thanks for the replies and information.
I collect the car in a couple of weeks.
Can't seem to upload photos from my phone, but will try from a computer next week.
I will keep you posted on progress, and there will obviously be questions, information that I will need to source.
Thanks Dave
Welcome aboard Dave! Congratulations on your new baby! Looking forward to the photos as well.

It's Delightful, It's DeLovely, It's DeSoto!
Hey, Dave...
Since it'll be your first time posting pictures, I thought I'd point out a post in the FAQs forum. There's an "add the file" button that you're going to want to avoid....
It's supposed to be fun!
