Can one of you awesome guys with your parts book resources help me out?
I've got a radiator with the part #1599261 and "A5" underneath the number on the top tank.
I find 1599 numbers in the '55/'56 Master Parts book, but nothing with 261 as the suffix numbers.
Thanks,
It's supposed to be fun!

Tim,
I'm at work (on lunch) and do not have my Parts books handy. However, my experience with parts of this era is that many of the cast and stamped parts had a casting or stamping number on the part that was typically close to, but not the exact part number as listed in the Parts book. This might be the case with the radiator. I'm sure Mac or someone else with a Parts book handy will be able to confirm the correct radiator for the car in your shop. As I recall it is a '55 Fireflite w/o A/C. Correct?
Mark
Thanks, Mark. Actually, we're trying to solve the problem of needing a radiator for the '56 Dodge.
This radiator fits to the core support, so it might just be a moot point, but I kind of like to know what parts we're putting into the cars....

The part #1599261 is not in the part book. This probably is as Mark explains. There are several radiator cores for 56 Dodges. Part # 1656 450 would be for a 56 Dodge with 8 cylinders, with or without AC, and without the power package. Part #1599 972 is one for an 8 cylinder 56 Dodge with AC and with the power package. Six cylinder 56 Dodges have other part numbers.

Tim: Does the radiator have the DPCD stamp on it?
My Dad worked for Fedder Automotive in Buffalo (the same Fedders famous for air conditioners) and he sold radiators and heater cores to Chrysler
I remember the ones he supplied during the mid-60s for Dodge slant six trucks had numbers all over the header including the Chrysler part number and also the Fedders part number. I kind of remember the DPCD stamp being on them
Maybe your friendly radiator shop has a cross refernce book for Fedders/Blackstone/Harrison radiators
I've seen instructions stamped in the tank regarding using MOPAR coolant, and the part # is close to others in the '55/'56 parts book, but sitting here at the desk at the house I don't recall seeing the DCDP logo in the tank.
