Attached is a photo of one of the fabrics in our '55 Fireflite Sedan project.
We have been assuming that it is original cloth, as it is found in both the seat covers and the door panels.
SMS Upholstery shows that the material is available, but when I inquired as to whether they could provide it with the original seams in it, they claimed that they had never been asked to do that before, as if my request was to do something that wasn't authentic.
So.... I just sent off this sample for them to see and tell me whether they could duplicate it, but I thought I'd just make sure that we do in fact have original material here....
Thanks,
It's supposed to be fun!

Tim,
A better close up of that material may help, but that material does not look similar to any '55 interior fabric which with I am familiar. Please try a couple better close up photos and I'll give it a second look.

Interesting..... the type of material seemed OK to me since a sample of it was included with what SMS offered for the car according to the trim code.
The fact that it was seamed caught SMS by surprise, and their comment to me was "yes we can put the seams in, but nobody has ever asked us to do that before". What we assumed was the original upholstery in the car was found under aftermarket seat covers. The comment by SMS made it sound like I was asking for something unusual.
