I attended a swapmeet last sunday and had the opportunity to purchase to GE 7 inch sealed beam headlight bulbs model number 4030. These early sealed beams did not have the three aiming tips molded into the outer lens like the later model 6006 replacement bulbs.
These 4030 style bulbs were used from 1940- approx 1955 on most car manufacturers. But in 1948-55 MoPar switched over to the Autoltie Bullseye bulbs which still did not have the aiming tips.
So if you are looking to make your car period correct than the 4030 bulbs are the correct style bulb especially if you are having you car judged for authenticity from 1940-48.
Look at the first picture and you will notice that there are no aiming tips the second picture is of both sealed beams made by GE.
Even thought the AACA permits the use of the 6006 6v bulb on cars being judged these still not period correct because they also have the three aiming tips molded into the glass. The aiming tips did not become standard until around 1955/56.
If you have a Driver car then the 6006 bulb can be used but is being judged then you might get points deducted at a show.
