That is a nice looking DeSoto- the sheet metal looks well preserved. Are you at all familiar with DeSotos? If you can send us your serial number (located on the left front door pillar) we can tell you some things about your car.
You might be interested in getting a shop manual for the car- those have been reprinted, and are available online. I can send you a URL for one seller if you like.
You might also consider finding the parts list for your car. Those have been reproduced also, and the blow-up diagrams in them are very useful for understanding how things go together.
