It is with a deep felt sadness that I report the passing of longtime NDC member and good friend George Wuszke. George passed away Sat. Feb. 21st after a short illness from heart and kidney problems. Many of you know George and Nancy from the many conventions they attended. Others may remember their beautiful 1957 Adventure or their nicely restored 1949 convertible they showed at several conventions. George was very meticulous with all of the cars in his collection but I got the impression the De Soto's were his favorites and he kept them well maintained. R.I.P. my friend, you will be missed.
So sorry to hear of this, Les. Our cars are great, but it's the relationships that are most important.
It's supposed to be fun!
1949 De Soto Custom Convertible (project)
I was not a close friend of George's, but did know him from several of the conventions we've both attended. I'm sorry to hear of his passing. If you happen to hear of what will become of his cars, please let me know. I'm not interested, but would like to continue tracking the '57 for my records.
Ed, I never discussed with George and Nancy what might happen to the cars because we just didn't think he would pass away this soon. I wasn't aware he was having health problems and this all happened very quickly. I talked to him just a few days ago and he didn't say anything about his health problems. I don't think their son and daughter are interested in them so I think Nancy will probably sell some or all of them. I am sure you remember the '57 is a very nice car. Other than the many awards it won at our conventions, including best of show and people's choice at Bucks County, it was selected the best Mopar at Tulsa, OK when they opened the time capsule with the '57 Belvedere. I used to joke with him about adopting me so I might inherit it. Didn't happen. Nancy is a very savvy business woman. If she does sell it I wouldn't be surprised to see it sold through Barrett- Jackson.
