My 55 ‘Flite was converted to 12v, but the original 6v generator is still on the car. As a result, the battery gets run down to between 65 to 85% from full charge, which is (obviously)required each time after it is driven. I’ve replaced the coil and voltage regulator, but as that hasn’t helped, I’m assuming I need to either convert my existing unit, or find a working (12v) generator from/for a ‘56 DeSoto. My understanding is that the ‘56 units are a perfect substitute to fit thr existing brackets and power steering pump.

Can anyone confirm this, and/or guide me to a replacement/ conversion source?
