Anything is possible with enough time and plenty of money. The problem you will run into is the V8 is wider and longer than the 6. The steering box will have to be changed and the radiator moved forward. It will be far simpler to keep it original. It all depends on what you want when you are done, a hotrod or original car.

A simple Google search found this link with tons of info. As suggested by Tim, you will encounter far less trouble if you stick with a MoPar flathead six. But as this link suggests, that does not resign you to bone stock original. I'm not expert on early '50's DeSoto engine swaps but this appears to be very good advice.

Hola Luke
As already said --- it is less trouble free and cost wise if you continue with the
25 inch long Flat Head.
From 1951 to 1954 your 236 cubed engine became 250 cubes by "stroking" it.
*
at the same time Chrysler's 250 cubes from 1946 became 265 cubes.
*
They all use the same Pistons - Rings - Bearings - Cam Shafts - Carburetors
- Water Pumps and some other "stuff".
If you state where you are --- there may be an engine near by.
