Project #1 has been shipped.
I ordered:
- 2 x Amazon Basics sound deadener (Don't judge, had good ratings) https://tinyurl.com/yehgzmyq
- Sound Deadener Installation Rollers
- New Accelerator Pedal
- New Brake Pedal
- Carpet kit Essex in Grey https://tinyurl.com/yhgu6373
My plan is to remove the seats, existing gross carpet, existing trunk liner, clean the floor, hit any rust or bare metal with por-15 and then put down sound deadener, then new carpet and install seats again. I'm going to avoid the wires going to the trunk(leave them between sound deadener and carpet for now).
Anything I need to look out for, any recommendations before I start this project?

Well, seats are out.
The rear seat bottom and the entirety of the front seat were taken to the upholstery shop. I've removed all of the carpet and the insulation under it. The carpet was stuck down in a few places, but it came up pretty easily as a whole. There was only underlayment in the driver's and passenger's footwells. That is about to change. Road noise be gone!! I'm still coughing up strange colored things due to the massive amounts of yellow foam dust and underlayment(possibly asbestos, eh...) but overall, fun half hour project after the kids went to bed.
Time to scrub it all, and rub it all down with denatured alcohol in preparation for the sound deadening. Then I will install the carpet.
I realized that I will have some problems with the carpet where the front seatbelts mount to the tunnel. I may have to take it to an upholstery shop for them to cut holes in the carpet properly. So I may just be running with front carpet for a week or two. Grrrr.
I did find the wire covers on the drivers side under the secondary door sill plate is a bit rusty, so I'll hit that with some por-15, but otherwise, not an ounce of rust. I'm just in awe of how clean this thing is. More pics to follow on the next step. Time to see if this Amazon Basic sound deadener is worth the $$. When I read myself saying that, I cringe a little, but I'm going to give them a fair shot. They seem to be good at finding good white box products to stamp their name on.
One fun thing is it looks like the PO used the chrome ring from a urinal as the surround for the trunk pop button. I'll be adding that back in when I get the seats back. Classy.

Quick update. I am no expert, and this is before I taped up the seems, but I'm moving along with my flooring revamp. I found a tiny bit of rust, brushed it off, hit it with some por-15, and covered the floor. I still have to do the flooring under the rear seats, and I have to remove the kick panels, etc to insulate behind there, along with the trunk, but so far, it's looking good. This pic doesn't have my seats, but let's say this foam shortage is a PITA ($$) and I've found a shop I'll no longer use for upholstery.
The front seat is in, and today it goes to the mechanic. Once it finishes there, add the carpet and I'm ready to roll. But it's moving along. The Amazon Basics sound deadener is surprisingly good for the price. It comes in sheets so I had more seems than I wanted but c'est la vie. Pretty easy weekend upgrade and I was able to find some surface rust before it became an issue.
The original carpet is what it had, yes, I know. Yuck. It was disgusting. The underlayment was indescribable.
