BIG time thanks to Mark Kubancik who dropped everything on his day off yesterday to come to our rescue when our DeSoto refused to start!
We were stranded in the middle of a public parking lot, without tools, or a clue, after our car stalled and refused to restart. When we called Mark for advice, he offered to drive a long way out of his way to lend us a hand, and he did!
The car restarted and we've had no issues since. The car was likely just being fussy after its long winter hibernation.
But it was still pretty darned cool that Mark was so willing to help his fellow old car owners!
Mark is a good egg.
doggone Great job Mark
Mark has helped me out several times through the board, on email and over the phone in the last couple years since he's the coordinator for my 55 Firedome. I had no idea that he was willing to drive out a long way. Job well done Mark, take tomorrow off.

Maybe Someone should nominate Mark for the Hernando Award.
...and now for the "rest of the story"! What Rosy fails to point out is that had their car not miraculously cured itself my roadside troubleshooting skills are extremely limited. I was relieved it restarted on its own.
Please nominate someone else in the Club more deserving than me for the Hernando award. I was fortunate enough to win that award in 1995 after serving as the NDC Treasurer for many years and hosting the Asheville Convention. Spread the love to others yet to earn the award.
Mark
Mark, i am in the UK, will you fly over and help me if i any have starting problems
Simon,
Yes, if you pay my airfare! Never been to the UK, it's time to go!
Mark
It is true that Mark has already won the Hernando award, and you can win that award only once. But someone can nominate Mark for one of our Special Achievement Awards (SAA) - these you can win many times as long as each award is given for a different reason. Mark won one of our SAAs a long time ago, and that was for his work as the club's treasurer. All SAA nominations are to be sent to me, Bill Noble, SAA Coordinator, nobledesoto@ameritech.net.

...did I also mention that Mark is modest?!
