Hi All,
I need a end plug for a master cylinder. Both the 1" and the 1-1/8" use the same plug. Anyone out there have a 1946 to 1953 MC that is junk? I need the plug with TWO exit ports not the one with ONE exit port. If anyone has one and can take off the plug and gasket (copper/steel) and drop it in a box let me know what you want for the part and the trouble.
Thanks, James
A good N.A.P.A store should have them
Rick,
I really doubt NAPA or any other chain auto parts store has it.
The plug is very special and I have never seen them as a separate part. It uses extra fine threads, has two inverted flare female ports, is machined for a special copper or steel washer, and is machined to accept the residual pressure valve at the end of the internal spring.
That is why I have to go hit a wrecking yard or hopefully someone has one that is such junk that they will sell me the plug.
I have a good M/C but the plug had the inverted flare threads stripped out sometime during its life.
James
James, I will check to see what I have this weekend. In the meantime, you could check to see what dvap.com has. It is an AZ salvage yard. You need to check the one in Casa Grande.
Thanks Paul,
I can drive north for 3 hours and there is a yard I know will have it...but if you or someone has one it is better than killing an entire day.
James
James, I took a look for the MC plug. Mine only have the single port.
Paul,
Thanks for trying...James
James,
I've got a used master cylinder from a 49 DeLuxe. It does have the 2 port plug. I'm not sure if the master cylinder is still any good - it's been sitting in the basement for quite some time but I would prefer to sell it as a unit. Let me know if you are interested.
Hi Herb,
Hold that thought. If I do not find one local in the next week, I will buy the core for the plug.
James
