You have all been so helpful with other issues concerning my 1929 acquisition, I thought I would ask how does one remove the artillery wheels in order to get at the brake wheel cylinders? I see and can remove the wheel nuts easily but does one require a puller of some sort to remove the wheel, and if so what kind? I do not wish to force anything until I understand how they are supposed to come off.
Many thanks and regards to all, Peter
Unscrew the hubcap. There you will see a nut with cotter key. Remove cotter key and loosen nut. On the front you then simply slide the wheel and bearings off of the spindle. In the rear, you may need a wheel puller. You can also loosen the nut one turn and drive it around the block and it might pop loose. These older rear artillery wheels do seem to come off easier than the 50's MoPaRs.
The wheel puller looks something like this http://customhubpullers.com/
Good Luck
Steve
