A few questions about a 1955 Fireflite Sportsman (2dr HT):
Did all 2dr HT models come with rear seat armrest ashtrays ? I've seen some with and some without.
Was there a mid-year change in the size of the door glass ? Parts book seems to indicate a reduction in height of the glass.
Is there a guide to decoding the options on the firewall data plate ?
Looking for the following parts. Please post here or email me (ronbo97@comcast.net):
'Plastic bird' at center below hood. Excellent original or DeSoto club reproduction.
'Powerflite' script below trunk. Excellent used. Is anyone reproducing this ?
Thanks,
Ron
Ron,
Here is a Powerflite script on eBay. Hurry; it ends today. They were reproduced once but not in quantity so good used is your best bet.

I've got a '55 order code list and color and trim album so should be able to assist if you post the order codes here or e-mail to me. My e-mail: mark.kubancik@twc.com

Hi Mark -
i saw the one on ebay. Looks pitted. I'm looking for better quality.
Any idea on the ashtrays ? Did all 2dr HTs come with them ?
Thanks,
Ron

From my experience, you would do well to purchase a used Powerflite script, even though it may be pitted and if all mounting studs are on it rather than waiting for a pristine used one to surface. If not pitted too severely, a good chrome shop may be able to repair and re-chrome. These are very scarce and I know of no one reproducing these.
The rear seat ash trays on the arm rests on the two door hardtops were not an option which would make one think that all 55 hardtops had these.
To my knowledge, the front emblem is not being reproduced. George Laurie made one for me 8-10 years ago.
