As the '55 model year coordinator I received this inquiry from NDC member Ritch Park. As you will read, Tim Bowers provided some very helpful information.
Hi Mark
I am looking for the springs that prevent the flipper above the door windows on the
2-door hardtop, from tripping down and catching in the window when the door is closed.
Do you have any of these or know what to replace them with?
Thanks,
Ritch Park
Ritch,
Owning a four door sedan I’ve never had to replace or search for the springs you describe. I’ve copied Tim Bowers on this e-mail as he has restored several ’55 & ’56 hardtops and may know a source for these items.
Tim…any ideas?

I can make those springs for you.
There are 3 different springs, 2 each. Two are relatively easy, the 3rd is a booger.
$50 for the set, shipping included.
I think there are flipper springs available on ebay for chevy/cadillac applications, and I think they are similar, but not exactly the same, and I never explored whether they would work on the DeSoto flippers.
