For what it's worth, we dealt with just such a situation at the '95 Convention in Asheville/Hendersonville, NC. The Holiday Inn we chose was sold and became a Best Western following modest remodeling. We were one of their first conventions and were pleased overall with the outcome. All that aside, I would urge those working the 2012 Convention as well as the Club officers who visit this message board to have a suitable hotel back-up plan if the transfer of ownership and renovations do not go as currently planned and promised. Banks are still being very choosy about who and what they finance, and buying and renovating an older hotel takes a lot of money. Just as you cannot over-promote an event, you cannot over-plan for the unexpected.

The deal has been finalized and there is a backup plan just in case.
