Hi,
My name is Bob Hubbard and I'm from East Leroy, MI, located--south of Battle Creek in SW Mich.
I purchased a beautiful 1959 Desoto Firesweep Sportsman 2 Dr Hardtop from Dane Sharp out of Oklahoma about 2.5 weeks ago (Sept-18). As a young boy I watched all the 50s cars drive by from my grandparents porch in Kalamazoo, MI, and my mom says I knew the names of just about every car very young.
I lived with my grandparents until about 4, as my dad was in the Navy on a destroyer named the USS Borie located in the Persion gulf. Watching those cars especially at night had a profound effect on me, my wife says that must be why I love cars so much. I own several classic cars, and always wanted a big-finned Mopar. I think this is the right one for me!
I'm looking forward to being a member of the DeSoto Club!
DeSoto fan,
Bob
Hello and welcome Bob!
That's a very nice car you have there. Dane kept us updated on his progress during his restoration and you bought a car that was very well done.
There are several '59 experts in the Club. If you have questions, post them here and one of those folks will likely respond.
Next year's DeSoto Convention will be in nearby Fort Wayne, IN, so we look forward to meeting you and seeing your car in person.
Mark
Welcome Bob and congratulations on finding your '59. If you are going to join the NDC I hope you will also join us in the Great Lakes Chapter of the Club. We have a good group of Desoto owners and are one of the more active chapters in the NDC. Our group hosted the 2009 NDC national convention in St. Joseph and are working on making a bid for the 2015 convention somewhere here in Southwestern MI. Looking forward to meeting you and having a look at your '59. Les
I'm looking forward to meeting you guys too. I sent my application
for the Great Lakes Chapter club about a week ago.
Thanks for the info,
Bob
I sent my application
for the Great Lakes Chapter club about a week ago.
Bob, either one of two things here, I had talked to you before about joining the GLC and forgot it (happens a lot at my age) or someone sent you an application and I didn't know it. That happens sometimes to. As chairman of the group they don't like to tell me more than they have to.
Welcome, Bob!
Beautiful car! Congratulations!
Hi Les, I got my application from Jerry Turben is why you didn't know.
We are planning to come to the Fort Wayne Convention in July and
Will see you there.
Thanks,
Bob
Hi Rosemary thanks for saying hi.
Bob
Bob, is your application for the NDC or the Great Lakes Chapter? They are separate applications and you have to be a NDC member to belong to the GLC. Les
