I've been a member of the Desoto Club since the 1980s, but never actually owned a Desoto. Until today.
This morning (Sept. 4), I purchased an original red and white 1955 Desoto Fireflite Sportsman in northeastern New Mexico. The car runs and drives. Options: power steering, power brakes, tinted glass, searchtune radio, power seat. Also has a vintage aftermarket air conditioning system. I will be removing this and it will be put up for sale.
The car was living on a farm and had been in the same family since new. It was sold new at Hub Motor Co. in Lubbock, TX. The original chrome dealer plate was in the 'goody box' that came with the car.
Very happy to have found this car.

Awesome, Ron! Congratulations!
It's supposed to be fun!
1949 De Soto Custom Convertible (project)
We find them in the strangest places. You've been a member that long! Keep this one and drive it.
Ron,
Nice car, sure to look nicer after you spend some time on it. Let me know if I can assist with any part of the restoration.
Mark
Now comes the good part, you will need
the 2 dealership folders
the 54 Service Manual and the 55 Supplement
The dealership wall hangings
The Dawn of Destiny dealer book
to bring the car to the convention in Maryland-the week before Chryslers at Carlise
Congrats Ron
Check the gas tank filler door-early models had a bump out on the door for your finger/later ones added an indentation to the fender to make it easier to open
Close your hood softly as a hard drop will crack the chrome around the air vent
Nice car and the chrome looks like it just needs polishing! I love the '55 grille!!!! I 'wish' my '56 still used that "toothy" grille. Ah well...

Bob -
Already have the 54-5 shop manual and the (rare) 55-6 parts book. So much more info/photos in that than the 55-8 parts book.
Also have the standard dealer brochures. I'd like to find the Technical Service Bulletins, Ross Roy data book, upholstery samples book, and any dealer-only literature/wall hangings.
Car has the 'indent' in the quarter. The chrome hood leading edge moulding already has the familiar crack in the center.
Ron
I just posted a list of parts needed for my Fireflite in the Parts For Sale/Wanted forum. Can anyone help me out with these ?
Thanks,
Ron
Ron, I do not see your list. I did not see a "Parts For Sale/Wanted Forum" so I went to "Classifieds". There was nothing much there - nothing from you. So where is it? Is there something I am not seeing?
Thank you Tim. I get it.
Hi Ron,
You got it! Congratulations. Love the hardtops.
Is the ETA to CT still the same?

He's thinking the first week in Nov. Early Christmas present.
