Does anyone know when (what date) Desoto switched from 15 5/8" door glass to 14 3/8" door glass for their 2dr models ? This would be for 1955 models.
Ron
Here's a photo of the early vs. late 55 2dr glass frame. The base is different while the chrome surround is the same...
The early 55 frame is on top, BTW.

Ron,
I've got a '55 MoPar parts book dated December 1954 and a '55-'56 MoPar parts book dated December 1955 and the p/n's listed for hardtop front door glass and channels are identical in both books.

Update: I checked the same p/n's in my May 1964 edition of the '55 - '58 MoPar parts book and lo and behold it lists two sizes of hardtop front door glass and each size lists a Solex and non-tinted number. The window glass height is listed as 15 37/64 inches high and 14 3/8 inches high. The taller glass size is listed as 1955 only while the shorter is listed as fitting both '55 and '56 hardtops. There are no codes or asterisks saying use after this s/n, etc. Appears to be a running change sometime during the '56 model year that was listed as usable and fitting the '55 models. Interesting...wonder why the change?

Yes, I was aware of that. I was wondering if you or anyone else had a Desoto or Chrysler Technical Service Bulletin stating when the changeover took place. The vent window frame is also different, but the vent glass is the same.

You're welcome...
