i just pulled out the parts book. Apparently, there were two different windshield weatherstrips for 55/56 Chrysler/Desoto, depending on whether car was equipped with a 'Windshield Outside Visor' or not. These 55-6 cars have lots of 'particulars', compared to the 57-59s that I'm used to working with.

Not sure if this will be of help; when I was doing the molding on my windshield, I was able to make the molding much more pliable by soaking it with WD-40...

If you slowly dampen the rubber seal until it is wet - the rubber seal will react
better .
Keep doing this very lightly and slowly until it is no longer dry. As you do this -
keep away from your paint.

A '55 sedan owner was directed to me regarding front and rear window seals. Reviewing this thread again suggests that Steele is the way to go for the front seal. Do they now also have the rear window seal available for the sedan or is that still a work in process?

We purchased new front and rear windshield weatherstrips from Steele.
The front is a catalog item, and shouldn't be an issue to order. We sent in a chunk of the old rear weaterstrip along with a paper template of the rear glass and they made up a new weatherstrip from existing extrusions and molded corners. We sent it back and asked them to lengthen the top section of the rubber, which they did to our specifications.
We installed the rear glass into our '55 Fireflite Sedan with great satisfaction. We might have asked them to add just a wee bit too much to the top length, as there were a couple of ripples on the inside "flap" at the top. We sliced the ripple and re-glued the rubber back together and are satisfied.
To order a rear glass weatherstrip, I would call Steele and ask for Eddie, who is their product development guy. Hopefully he kept the records of what he did in order to make our weatherstrip. I "warned" him that once they got it right, the phone would start ringing.

I talked to Eddie yesterday at Steele Products. He remembers making the gasket for you but no longer has the specs or the paperwork.
Is there something you can provide that might refresh what he did for you? Did they create a part #?
BTW I have a rear glass removed if a template is still needed.
I spent quite a bit of time on the phone listening to Eddie shifting papers around on his desk and rummaging through a closet as he desperately tried to find his records on how he built our rear weatherstrip, to no avail. No new part # was generated, as far as I could tell.
Between my paperwork that came with the weatherstrip and the information he was able to come up with on what he did for us, we struck out on any useful information that would give him any hint on knowing how long the lengths of his extrusions were for us.
I'd call him back and tell him that you're sending him a paper template of your glass (what we had to do) and start over, I guess.
