I cannot locate a fuel tank for my 1954 Powermaster Sedan. None seem to exist. Any ideas? I did check with Andy B who mentioned that, for the 1954 Model year,he had not reproduced one. Checking other fuel tank suppliers, many DeSoto years are listed but not 1954. Was this an odd year for DeSotos?

Thanks all!

Robert,

I was searching for fuel tanks for the '55 DeSoto tonight and did not see anything for either '54 or '55 being reproduced.

Another Club member contacted me as the '55 model year coordinator stating that he needs a fuel tank for his '55 Firedome. As noted above, a quick web search did not reveal any such tanks being currently reproduced. Aside from finding a suitable used tank, what other options does one have these days to repair or reline a leaking fuel tank?

On behalf of two members in need, thanks for your advice and replies.

Mark

Thanks Mark for your reply. Agree...a bit strange that replacements are not available. I would prefer new but will take your advice and pursue repair/reline. Thanks again!

Looks like '53 &'54 Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge and DeSoto gas tanks interchange except wagons and long wheel base do not.

Good Luck

Does anyone have suggestions / recommendations for repairing a leaking original tank if reproduction tanks are not available?

Mark

I've used the POR-15 tank sealant several times with great success. http://www.por15.com/POR-15-Fuel-Tank-R ... _p_62.html

If you're not into the whole dirty DITY thing, you could try these guys.

Steve,

thanks for the suggestions, especially the link to the gas tank renew guys. I don't think my inquiry is a DIY-er.

Mark
