While at the show yesterday here at the convention, a local lawyer offered his elderly mother's 1950 DeSoto "free to someone who I know will restore it, and care for it". He saw our DeSotos and thought that we would be just the type of folks who could apprecicate the car. He didn't have many details, but did say that the car had no rust, and has been well cared for over the years. I'm not entirely certain, but I think he said that his mother had been the original owner? Sorry I don't have more details.
Here is his contact info:

The car is in Chattanooga.
If anyone follows up and gets photos, please post the info here. We are interested if the car finds a good home.

Hello There
I called about this car which belonged to his Grand Mother.
I was told it needs another Steering Wheel because the plastic
is gone ... Seats because of time ... All Tires because of the
same reason's and it should be towed from where it is on an
Saturday.
Some photos are going to be made and sent to me.
In talking with him he did say a couple of locals that he knows
are also "speaking up".
He did not mention which color, the body design or trim level of
The S14.
Thank You for passing on this lead and information.

Hopefully this is a good lead and a good car. We told Mr. Thornbury when we first met him at the show on Saturday that we might have been able to send a few of the DeSoto aficionados from the convention to look at the car and obtain photos if we had known about the car earlier in the week. He was very busy on Saturday night and early Sunday, so there was no time to see the car nor communicate to any or all who might have had the time to see the car in person.
It would be great if one of our NDC members could give the car a good home.
Any updates on this car?
Just curious.
Thanks,
Darin
Hello All
The Gent still has the car. He stated that he had some
plans for "re-storing" it but has now put this thought a-side.
In his last conversation with me he said that he is going to
face reality by the end of October. I do not know more than
this.

I feel because this is an vehicle that his G-Mother purchased
new, that he is not going to let the car go to any one that he
thinks may re-sale or part the car out.

I haven't been on the boards in years. In fact, haven't been back since I drove all the way to Indiana to check out a '49 DeSoto that must have had pride in the price, haha. Never an owner, only an enthusiast. Now that I'm back in the USA, I'm back to looking for a 'Soto.
Anywho, I'm near Chattanooga and I think I'd be an ideal candidate for this automobile. I've sent him an email, he's replied, and I'll probably drive down to have a look in a couple of days. I'll keep you posted.
Welcome back, Justin, and good luck with this DeSoto...hope it's what you're looking for! I met the seller during the NDC Convention this summer, and he seemed like a good guy.
Please let us know how it goes.
