I am wondering if someone can assist decoding the ID Plate. A very big Thankyou.  ????
I purchased it as a 1946 DeSoto Custom Coupe???
I live in Australia. I have been trying to contact a previous owner but no success so far.
There are rumours that it came from South Africa. I don't know accurate this is.
She is a right hand drive DeSoto.
She was repainted and trimmed many years ago by the owner I purchased the vehicle from. Unfortunately, he passed away and his son knows nothing about the vehicle.
Engine number C38-205242.
VIN/Chassis Number 5956682
I have figured out that Model 11 means S11. Body 22 is Coupe?
Paint Code 227 and Trim Code 917. I found some information about the paint colour on a website Unique Cars and Parts. But this information has confused me as it states the colour was in 1948.
What is RD - 3?
What does Spec Fo. No. - 4723, Sched. 708 and Item No. 3099 mean?
Where can I get more info on body numbers?

You might try reaching out to Les Pesavento, the model year coordinator, to see if he can provide any input to those codes. I would also reach out to the club librarian, Geoff Overley, to see if he has any documentation (such as a data book for instance) for your car that can help.
