Hi all-
Here's hoping that you may have a suggestions on places to look for 1960 DeSoto Trim.
I've just purchased a '60 Adventurer, and am looking for the brightwork that surrounds the rear license plate well, P/N 2196514 (see images). The one on the car is broken, and I'm not sure if there are good sources for trim pieces these days... it's been years since I've needed to buy anything for my '59. Are there a few recyclers you know of that specialize in DeSotos or Chryslers of this era? Or perhaps someone here has one? 🙂
This part appears to be shared with Chrysler for this year.
Thanks for any help!

'59 Fireflite 4-Door Sedan
'60 Adventurer 4-Door Hardtop
The part is not the same as the Chrysler. I had 3 of them in various states of disrepair and took them to Paul"s Chrome. This is a very expensive way to go and I have to take it back for the third time because it does not fit flush with the rear panel. It's not really their fault because they don't have a mould to fit it to. I am thinking of making a male model of the area so they can revise the piece to fit.
So far, $450 dollars invested in this piece.
Good luck finding one that is in good shape because it is made out of pot metal and therefore will be pitted and probably cracked because the piece is pretty thin.
You could try Desert Valley in Arizona, or just google for a list of Mopar salvage yards and go from there.
You can contact Murray Park who is in Tiffin, Ohio; he is an all Mopar salvage lot and is a NDC member. His phone is 419-448-0293 and his email is mbpark@cbodies.com. He is currently restoring a 60 Adventurer.
Also, "Spankey" Cox who lives in Effingham, IL has over 30 vehicles on his property and he might have one on a car. He drives a 60 Adventurer to the convention. His phone is 217-868-5424 and his email is tis_spanky@yahoo.com

Hi Regis-
Thank you, and you're right... I totally missed that the part numbers aren't the same between Chrysler and DeSoto.
I'll reach out to the sources you suggest and see what surfaces.
And if I strike out, I may actually resort to having one 3D printed and chrome plated. A pitted part would be okay to start with in this scenario, because the part scanning process can remove the imperfections before printing.
I'm starting a restoration over the winter, and knock on wood, this will be the only piece that's broken, or started that way. Hopefully I haven't just jinxed myself! 🙂
