@timbowers

That might have been me Tim. I was communicating with someone about that time. I took pictures with and without a tape measure. The biggest issue (if this is the one I think it is) would be the strength of the lower spring hook.

That might have been me Tim. I was communicating with someone about that time. I took pictures with and without a tape measure. The biggest issue (if this is the one I think it is) would be the strength of the lower spring hook. The VERTICAL/PLUM distance you want to create between the hood hinge hook and the lower hook is precisely 12 3/4". This of course would be with the hinge in the open position. I hope this helps

I should also add the easiest way to install the spring is to:

1)  loosen the rear hinge mounting bolt two or three complete turns.
2) totally remove the front hinge mounting bolt, letting the hinge swivel down.

3)  Hook the spring onto the hinge spring pocket (see image above).

4) Hook the bottom end of the spring on the lower spring hook.

5) Using a tall hydraulic jack (such as on from a 'cherry picker' or engine hoist), raise the front of the hinge until you can thread the forward bolt into the cowl.
