I have a 1931 SA Rumble Seat.

The engine is not the original one, the engine number is 48-46670 or I 48-46670
Any ideas what engine this could be?
Is the I maybe for Industrial, or Import? The new car was sold to a dealer in South Africa. In the 80's, it was sold to a collector in Switzerland.

Thanks, Philipp

I think it is a late model '58 to '68 flathead engine as used in some trucks and other machinery. Can you please post the length of the cylinder head? Are there any other numbers or casting numbers you can see on the block or head? These might be helpful.

Good Luck
Steve

Here is what i have found:
Carb is Carter ETT1
Distributor IGS 4207-1
Casting on the engine:
F19
1116829 - 5 (under starter motor)
5 10 (right of the distributor)

The length of the engine is some 65cm or 26 inches.

The water pump on the picture below is the original (a few days before it was getting broken) The pump was smaller than the one i have found and installed later, and there was no bypass (for heater ?) on the right side.

Thanks, Philipp

Distributor is from Dodge truck '46 to '53 and also some Plymouths. Carburetor is also same era Dodge truck and used on some Ford trucks into the '60's. I haven't figured out your casting numbers but am only on 2d cup of coffee this morning.

Good Luck
Steve

on the rear side is a large XS and a samller NH
and the number is 1316354-1 or 1318354-1

Thanks, Philipp

Best info I have:
Distributor is from '49 Dodge truck.
Carburetor E7T1 (no ETT1 I could find) Dodge Truck '49 to '60.

As previously mentioned, the engine number you provided is late model US flathead 6 used in some trucks and other machines like a/c tugs etc. or maybe foreign.

BUT, if there is a T in front of your I 48-46670 number that is a 49-50 B-1 series 236 cu" dodge truck engine.

Is that the number stamped on the left side of the block just below the head or just in front of the head on the top of the block?

Have a nice day
Steve

Steve

Here's a closer look of the number.
This "hitch" on the very left side is maybe a T.
I think, you're right; the number is T 148-46670

Thank you very much for your help!

Philipp
