I am in the process of replacing the weather stripping on my '53 and was hoping someone could help me out with what size rivets I need for the job and where I can get them.
Thanks in advance,
Keith
I carefully removed these from my '55 and reused them. They weren't really rivets but mor a sharp hardened nail about 1/2 inch long that were driven right into the metal cowl. Might find something at home depot.
Keith, Dave states they are not rivets and is correct. These are like Dave states - about a 1/2" long and sharp, probably hardened. You should see small holes in the metal edges where the weather strip goes. There are concrete nails at home depot that are very similar. Trouble is they may corrode easily.
I have a 53 Firedome. Feel free to email me at pmurko@cox.net.
Thank you for your responses. I realize now how vague my question was. Didn't think of the pins attached to the sheet metal around the windshield. The rivets I am talking about are the ones that hold the metal backed felt onto the door window track that is part of the vent window assembly. There are also two rivets which attach the pivot piece of the vent window to the frame as well.
If I remember correctly, I did this 25 years ago...............I used a very small sheet metal screw in place of the rivet.
I am talking about the weather stripping around the windows on the doors, not on the body.
