Belmont (Laconia), NH:
We made it to my long-time friend Dennis Decato's home. Dennis has a shop. We developed a serious vibration coming across New Hampshire. Well, we got the Carryall up on his lift a few hours ago and discovered the culprit. The forward universal is almost completely gone. Although it hadn't stopped us, we also discovered that our right-hand transmission mount is all but gone as well.
We found that the universal joint has a unique cap with cast "ears". We are searching for at least one to get us home. If was can find 2, that would be all the better. Anyone know where one (or 2) of these can be found?

Most Sincerely,

Ralph M Bohm

Try Andy Bernbaum http://www.oldmoparts.com/
or try Kanter automotive http://www.kanter.com/

If there is a drive shaft place in that area they can make
A drive shaft that uses the Mechanic joint (cross type) for
about the same money

Rick, I believe that will not work because this wing joint has the provision with side brackets to hold the universal in place.
We're waiting on a call right now. Kanter might have them but due to the hurricane last week, they're at least 5 days before they can ship a part.

Okay, wil do but we are out of time. This is a unique joint with "ears" and NO holes. A mounting plate with 2 holes surrounds the ears and holds the joint in place. Andy Bernbaum shows a universal with ears but those are the incorrect ones as they have the mounting holes.

We have been stopped by a simple bad universal joint

This is the joint before removal.

This is the exploded view. Can anyone tell me who may have this part?

Andy Bernbaum doesn't.
Kanter Doesn't
Local junk yards in NH and MA don't
Napa couldn't begin to help me, nor Car Quest, Auto Zone, Robbin's Auto Parts, etc.

Has anyone run into this issue? Does the Chrysler Windsor running parts interchange?

Anyway, We had to leave the Carryall in New Hampshire as I had to catch a flight overseas this morning from Maine. I am now awaiting my connection in Atlanta and might not have Internet for 4 weeks.

When I get back, I WILL find this part and I WILL finish the trip.

Most Sincerely,

Hi Ralph,
I'll send these photos to my friend. If they match up with his 50 Chrysler drive shaft, you just might be in luck.

Stephen
