I can very frequently buy new seals at the local parts store by ordering them by dimension. If the old one isn't destroyed, have it measured and try to order it that way.

Yeah that's kind of what we did. The local independant parts shop had old federated catalogs back to the 20's and we found compatible seals. I did find that northwest transmission in ohio had the parts as well, but the local approach was faster/cheaper. Everywhere else was a strikeout.
